My name is Shaun, I have been working with wood for about 35yrs ( I built my own cabin bunk bed when I was only 14! ) so there's not much that I haven't had a go at making. I am a self employed carpenter/cabinet maker and enjoy designing and creating all sorts of things to suit all sorts of applications. I had my first workshop in the back garden when I was 10, which I built (with a little help) from scrap I found laying around. I now have a nice cosy place at the end of my new garden (see photo below) where I create all the things that you can see in the photo galleries.
One of my harshest critics watches as I work!
I am currently making decorative artworks using reclaimed and found materials and draw inspiration from landscapes both real and imaginary, I like to create things which can be enjoyed from different perspectives. Some pieces are large and command a space on a wall, reaching out into a room. Others are small enough to slip into a pocket and become a familiar held object. I like to think that my work engages the observer's senses beyond simply seeing.
